Goldfuss update (July 23)

Hello again praying friends.

Well, this is the last night, Lord willing, without Faith, Mikey, Cristiana and Caralyn. We have certainly missed them a lot here and the Lord has helped us survive. :-) We are thankful for that.

This week, we had a real blessing. On Wednesday, Jose and America were married in a civil ceremony. They had been living together for the past 6 years. They have one son, Jose Ruben. It was a real blessing and answer to prayer to see them get married, especially after Jose said about 4 months ago that he never was going to get married. We believe that he still needs to be saved, but we are thankful as only the Lord could have worked in his heart to get him to this point. Today they invited Carissa, Matthew, Cherith and me over for dinner. It took quite a while before we ate, but we had a good time of talking with them. Pray for them to do what the Lord wants them to do day by day.

Continue to pray for Sylvia and her husband Roberto for salvation. Roberto, her son, is in rehab. More than rehab, Roberto needs to be regenerated. Pray for the Lord's work there.

It was a real blessing to have Nicolas and his family back again to church today. He had missed the last two weeks and was really struggling with some serious issues. He works for a so-called Christian man who really has done him wrong many times. It has caused Nico to doubt a lot of things. We had an excellent talk on the way home from church this afternoon. Nico says that he had gotten his eyes off of Christ. Praise the Lord for showing Nico this problem and pray for him to continue to be faithful. It is a tremendous blessing to me personally to see what the Lord has done in his life. Nico's wife Liliana is expecting in about a month and a half. She has a heavy work load and is very tired at this time. Please pray for the Lord's provision for their finances in the birth of their baby. An added blessing today is that when we were ready to go to church (we normally drive Nico and his family down with us), Liliana's sister, Sara, was waiting with her three children and ready to accompany us. Some of you may remember that she is the lady who almost died in our van one night at 3:30 in the morning as we were trying to get her to a hospital after she delivered in the living room of the house next door. Please pray for her to have more than a passing interest in the things of Christ.

We had very well-attended services today. The Lord in His providence had our SS and worship service preaching focus on humility--Christ's humiliation and exaltation in SS and the gospel cultivating humility in our own hearts as we meditate on it day by day. Please pray that we truly would be a humble group of believers. The Lord resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

Faith and the rest of the family, as well as Mr. Frank Davis, a friend from our home church, and Ethan Reagan, a friend of Mikey's from Westerville Bible Church all arrive tomorrow. We are looking forward to a good week with each of them. Pray for their safety on Monday. The family is supposed to arrive in Mexico City at 12:20 and Mr. D and Ethan at 12:52. We appreciate your prayers.

In Christ,
Mike for all the Goldfi
