Goldfuss update

Goldfuss update

January, 2014

Dear Prayer Partners,

In our last prayer update, we related several difficult situations in the church that were really taking a toll on us.  Thank you so much for praying!  During the holidays, things calmed down a good bit.

1.  The dear one in adultery has been faithful to the services and appears to have changed her ways.  Please continue to pray for the Lord’s grace and victory in her life.

2.  The couple who is not married is living apart, (because he is still married to his first wife that he left 13 years ago), but they are coming to church and trying to rear their children in the Lord.

3.  The young lady dating the unsaved man has cut off the relationship.  Please pray for his salvation.  Pray for her also to not bend in her decision as he has said that he is determined to get her back.

Christmas was very different this year.  We have noticed a trend in the last three years.  Normally, Christmas has been one of our busiest times with more people attending services at Christmas time rather than faithfully all year long.  This year more have been faithful during the year, but during Christmas we had half of our normal attendance!  We had a pretty calm holiday season, and we were happy for those who could get away.

The Lord recently gave us two very great encouragements.

1.  Five years ago a young family left our church because Mike needed to exhort them, and they were offended.  They returned to church a year and a half ago and asked for forgiveness and began to come faithfully every week.  This Christmas they surprised the church by bringing extra food and buying two giant piñatas for the children.  The father of the family shared what a blessing to follow the Lord's principles.  For the first time, they had an overabundance of financial blessings and wanted to thank the Lord and share them.

2.  A family in our church moved away over 10 years ago.  They attended off and on for about two years.  They would listen, but never seemed truly converted.  The father never came.  He recently e-mailed us to say that he had been saved.  They are now living in the city of Queretaro.  Juana was able to see them briefly and the wife shared with her how thankful she was for the hours that Mike spent teaching them at their home because now, years later, it finally clicked.  "Some sow the seed, others water, but it is God that gives the increase."

Please pray for a new couple that came yesterday and said that they have decided to come faithfully.   Pray that they would.  They are unsaved and are contacts from our last summer VBS.  Another new young couple made their second appearance.

Big Praise!  Jessica Foster is coming on January 30th to help with this semester of homeschooling!!!!!  Thank you for praying!

We are so thankful for your prayers, your birthday cards, (Cristi has hers ALL OVER her wall!), and everything that you do to make it possible for our family to serve the Lord here in Mexico.

In Christ,

Faith for all the Goldfusses----Mike, Mikey, Cristi, Carissa, Matt, Cheri, and Cara
