goldfuss update

Dear Prayer Partners,

Thank you for praying and so sorry that we haven’t gotten an update out sooner.

Praises:

1. The ladies breakfast went very well.   We were very blessed by the speaker's testimony.  Many visitors came.   I estimate about 80 women were there!  A little over 20 came from another church.  Our 25 ladies invited many ladies and made it a very elegant event!  My friend from gymnastics came and seemed to really enjoy herself.  However, since the breakfast she has been cool toward me.  Pray that I will have an opportunity to speak to her alone.

2.  The next week was Resurrection Sunday.  We felt that it was one of our best ever.  Three new families came, and we had wonderful opportunities to witness to them.  As always when the Lord is working, Satan is busy.  Some were complaining about the work involved and that others do not help as much.  Pray that we would have wisdom getting everyone involved and that we would all have a joy in serving.

Prayer Requests:

1.  Illness-- Since then we have been extremely tired.  Even though it has been vacation here, we have continued plodding through school.  The tiredness led to illness.  Almost everyone has had what I really think is a very severe flu.   Although the doctor insisted that it was bacterial and gave Cheri antibiotics, they did not have any affect.  Cheri (age 9) was hit the worst (about 10 days).  And she is still weak.  It attacked the muscles of our backs?????? (It was difficult to lie down, sleep, move, etc.)  Mike got a relapse on Saturday, but the Lord helped him to preach yesterday.   Right now he has a very high fever and is extremely weak.  Our co-workers, the Crockers (except the baby), are also down with this. I'm sure they would appreciate your prayers also.

2.  Van-- after 4 months, 3 different fix-it people, and over 20 trips 2 hours away to see how things were not progressing, we again, need a new transmission. The one that is in it is the wrong one.  It is hard to say, but our old beat up van proves now to have been 100 times better.  This has been a great drain on Mike.  We are so thankful for our little Tsuru—little 4 door sedan.  It is wonderful and has saved a lot on gas.  It’s quite crammed with 8 people though.

3.  One man is not accepting admonishment well and has talked to 3 people against us.  These came to us and are trying to practice Matthew 18.  This is good growth for the others.  Pray for his complete repentance.

4.  Dinora is growing.

5.  Juana is planning 2 Bible studies with ladies.

6.  Strength- We need to finish school, leave the home totally ready for school the next year, and plan for about a 3 month trip to the states.  We plan to be gone from June to August.  When we get back in September, we will start school 3 weeks behind as we normally start in the middle of August.  We are praying for at least 2 teachers so that we can also do Bible Clubs.  (This year we were unable to have Bible Clubs, and the neighborhood kids kept asking when they were going to begin.)

7.  Jessica--We are thankful for all of Jessica's hard work!!  She has really helped with school.  Jessica is leaving tomorrow and will have a ministry this summer at the WILDS in California.  She is then hoping to go to Papua, New Guinea.

8.  Mikey--as we plan and have a good-bye graduation on May 31st.   Many of his friends are coming from basketball as well as all of the church people.  Pray for him as he says good- bye and for the Lord's leading in college.  He will be attending Bob Jones University with a major in History and a minor in Business.

Hopefully, this hasn't come across negatively.  We are trying to be honest.  The Lord has again taught a lot about how this is HIS work.  When we we're sick and unable to do anything, The Lord saved one of our children!!!  The work is His, and we are just privileged to be able to serve!

In Christ,

Faith for the Goldfusses
