Goldfuss update

Quick update again!

Dear prayer partners,

Sunday’s services were very well attended although we did not have two main families.  One did not come one due to health reasons.

We have had a very sad situation this past week.  We told you that we have been taking care of Sra. Gloria.  Everything was going very well--the Lord helped us to get her blood pressure regulated and her sugar down to within normal range.  It was amazing!  She hardly needed to use her insulin.  Our children really enjoyed having her, and the little ones would go over to the cabin and color with her.  On Saturday evening she began to be a little different toward us, and on Sunday she said that she did not want to go to church.  We couldn’t leave her at the house all day long, so we helped her get ready and took her.  At church she began saying things about Vanessa to other ladies, and the sad thing is that some of the women began to believe her.  I asked Vane if she said those things, and she denied them.  We definitely believed Vanessa.

By Sunday evening, Gloria had reconciled with her brother and told us that she wanted to go back and live with her brother.  We were happy that everything was alright again with her brother, but confused because we had worked hard to make her feel at home with us.  The children had spent much time with her during the last 3 weeks. Mike arranged for someone to move all of her furniture again, and they were to arrive at noon on Monday.  About 10:30 AM one of our children came into the house very upset because she said that Sra. Gloria was lying on the telephone.  Mike went and listened outside her door, and she was telling her doctor that she was at an American's house, that they would not let her leave, and that we were changing all of her medications, and she felt very ill. She had given the doctor Mike's name and also the name of the friend that had moved her from the rest home and who was coming to move her to her brother's house.  She was giving the doctor our address when Mike unplugged the phone.  We were shocked by what she was saying as we have known her for many years, and she has been so sweet.  Also, what she was trying to do on the phone was very serious—accusing us of serious things.  People here are guilty and placed in jail until they are proven innocent.  More than all this, we were saddened by her sin of lying.

You would think that her leaving would be a big relief for us.  In a way it has, but the sadness of the whole situation has been a great burden.  When she was confronted with her lying, she said that she was not going to come to church anymore.  Pray for the Lord to work in her heart.

My main prayer request for our family is that you would ask the Lord for calmness so that we can finish school.  This year has been the hardest ever.   If it is not His will that we have calmness, pray that at least we would be able to concentrate on our studies in the midst of the storms.  We have now had 4 major situations this year with people who are very dear to our hearts.  The older ones, who do school on their own, are in fine shape.  We are just behind in school with the younger 3.

Please pray for our services tomorrow with child training and discipline.  We need much grace and wisdom.  Thank you for your prayers.

Faith
