Goldfuss update

Dear Prayer Partners,

Thank you so much for all you do for us!  We have been able to tell that people have been praying.

Praises:

1.  The Lord gave us 66 different children throughout our VBS!  That is a record by far!  We praise the Lord because everyone worked together so well. Many dedicated their time to serve the Lord.  Because we had so many children, the Lord gave the idea to have team leaders (the 3 oldest on each team).  They helped immensely by listening to verses and leading their teams.  We were able to bring over 28 each day in our van.  One day we returned with 32?????  These children came from Bible Club that we had in the spring up here by our home and most of them just loved VBS.

The Lord gave us many opportunities to minister to these children.  One unusual experience was when one of the boys, about 10, began smelling the glue we were using for the craft.  Glue sniffing is often the first step here toward drug addiction.  Teens get caught up in this at a very young age, and with love--I was able to tell him why the Lord does not want us to engage in this.  It is so sad because young kids thinking that this is funny begin an addiction that kills them.  He seemed to really think seriously about what I was telling him.

2.  Two of the older Bible Club members, Toñio and Mauricio, came with a desire to learn.  They really do show a desire to want to know more about the Lord.  Toño told us that he had decided to come to our church, but that he needed to talk with his mother.  We knew that that would be SOME conversation because his mother is the head organizer in our area of trips and pilgrimages to the "important" shrines of the virgin.  He hasn’t been able to come to church with us yet.

3.  Two families have already been attending church as a result of VBS!  (2weeks). Please pray for them to keep coming!  Julio and Maricela listen very well to the messages.  Please pray for their greatest need---their salvation.  Also there were two more different families that told us that they wanted to come, but so far we have not seen them.  Please pray that God would open their hearts to the truth and change them through Christ and His Word.

4.  Jon and Andrea Crocker came this week to look for housing.  Mike was able to go with them one day.  They will be returning September 3rd with their 3 children to be missionaries here in Mexico City!  Many of you might remember that they helped us for over 2 years--- and stayed in our cabin.  They have chosen an area closer to the center of the city ---right near where my friend from gymnastics, Ceci, lives!  We are excited to have them come!

5.  School is going well.  The 3 older children are helping with one subject for each of the younger children.  This makes for busy days.

6.  A man in our church has gotten some things right with his family and needs to continue.  Pray for continued growth.

Prayer requests:

1.  Salvation for many new ones who are attending.

2.  Spiritual growth of the church and new people to be saved.

3.  Youth outing with other churches this Saturday.

4.  For the Lord's will regarding Jorge and Ceci staying with us in the ministry here OR returning to Peru to serve the Lord there.

5.  Permission to drive our van out of the country to sell it. Since we can no longer use it here.

6.  Norma, the mother of 2 girls that I teach English to, called for spiritual help today.

There is much going on.  Pray that we would balance our personal time with the Lord, family, and ministry to glorify Him in the best way.

In Christ,

Faith for all of the Goldfusses
